Ayer escuché en La Ventana de la SER una canción de Ry Cooder -¡fabulosa su música para la película de Wenders "Paris, Texas"!-titulada Christmas Time this Year. Es uno de los cortes de su más reciente disco, Pull Up Some Dust And Sit Down (2011). Su alegre melodía tex-mex camufla una fuerte crítica a la guerra de Irak:

Al escucharla, recordé otra famosa canción, aquella de Simon & Garfunkel titulada 7 O'Clock News/Silent Night, último corte del album Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme (1966). Art y Paul entonan melodiosamente la archiconocida "Noche de Paz" mientras se escucha de fondo un boletín de noticias de la época: Vietnam, racismo, violencia.
Es lo que tienen estas fechas.
